Karol Ruth Silverstein currently serves on the board of SCBWI-Los Angeles and is a member of the Writers Guild of America West. Originally from Philadelphia, Karol moved to Los Angeles in 1990 to attend The American Film Institute. She worked in film and TV production before turning to writing full time.

Karol’s debut young adult novel Cursed is loosely drawn from her experiences following a juvenile rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis at age 13. She lives in West Hollywood with her exceptionally fluffy cats, Ninja and Boo.

Monica Perez, executive editor at Charlesbridge, has edited children’s books for all ages. She has worked recently with award-winning authors such as Karol Ruth Silverstein, Dana Alison Levy, and Ruth Spiro, and she’s excited to be working with new talent, such as Adriana Hernandez-Bergstrom and Annet Schaap. Monica is a Boston publishing native, having spent time at both Candlewick Press and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Traci Sorell writes fiction and nonfiction for children featuring contemporary characters and compelling biographies. She is an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation and lives in northeastern Oklahoma, where her tribe is located.

Traci has a Master's degree in American Indian Studies from the University of Arizona and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin. Previously, she taught at the University of North Dakota School of Law and the University of New Mexico. She also worked as an attorney assisting tribal courts nationwide, advocated for national Native American health care, and directed a national nonprofit serving American Indian and Alaska Native elders.
